Derek Smith has held various roles in the arts and education sector, currently serving as the Director of Operations and Programming at Albany Symphony since June 2013. Previous positions at Albany Symphony include Operations and Programming Manager as well as Education and Residencies Coordinator and Grants Administrator. Derek's earlier experience includes working as a Graduate Assistant for Musicology and Music Library at SUNY Fredonia from August 2010 to August 2012. Academically, Derek earned a Master's degree in Music Theory and Composition from the State University of New York at Fredonia and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from the University at Albany. Additionally, an Associate's degree in Business Administration was obtained from Hudson Valley Community College.
