Yumi Oshima

Substitute Viola at Albany Symphony Orchestra

Yumi Oshima is an accomplished musician with extensive experience in various orchestras and ensembles. Currently serving as a Substitute Violin and Viola for both the American Ballet Theatre and Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra since May 2019, Oshima also holds positions as a Violist with Trinity Novus NY since April 2016, Substitute Viola with Albany Symphony since September 2013, Section Viola with Hudson Valley Philharmonic since October 2013, and Assistant Principal Viola with Symphony in C since 2010. Notably, Oshima's early experience includes a role in Farinata Operations at the Eat Real Festival in 2009. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Pre-college diploma in Composition and Violin from The Juilliard School, a Master of Arts in Viola Performance from Rutgers University, ABD in Doctor of Musical Arts in Viola Performance from Rutgers University, a High School Diploma from United Nations International School, and ABD in a Master's Degree in Music Composition from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
