Eric S. Thornburg

Eric S. Thornburg is a Battery Materials Characterization Scientist at Albemarle Corporation, beginning in October 2023, focusing on the research and development of advanced lithium and lithium-ion battery materials through various characterization techniques. Prior to this role, Eric completed a PhD in Materials Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 2017 to 2023, where contributions included serving as a graduate research assistant under the guidance of Dr. Andrew A and Dr. Renske M, as well as acting as a teaching assistant for multiple chemistry courses. Earlier experience includes working as a research assistant and lab manager at Kalamazoo College from 2014 to 2017. Eric holds a BA in Chemistry with Honors from Kalamazoo College and completed an international exchange program at the University of Bonn in German Studies.
