Glen Merfeld

Chief Technology Officer - Energy Storage at Albemarle

Glen Merfeld has a strong background in energy storage technologies and research. Glen most recently served as the Chief Technology Officer for Energy Storage at Albemarle Corporation starting in 2018. Prior to that, Glen worked at GE Global Research from 2016-2018 as the Product Science Leader, where they led the creation of analytics used to direct research priorities and set product strategy for various industries. From 2007-2015, Glen held multiple roles at GE Global Research, including Platform Leader for Energy Storage Technologies and Manager of the Chemical Energy Systems Laboratory. In these positions, they directed research and development efforts for energy storage and conversion technologies, including batteries for transportation and improved power quality. Additionally, Glen has expertise in organic light emitting diodes and thin film solar devices.

Glen Merfeld received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University in 1994. Glen further pursued their education and obtained a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1998.
