Guy West has extensive experience in the recycling and environmental sector. Guy served as the President of Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation (ABCRC) from 1989. In this role, they were responsible for leading and managing the organization, ensuring financial performance, and implementing system improvement initiatives. Guy also played a key role in increasing return rates, improving operational efficiencies, and negotiating collective bargaining agreements.
In addition, Guy West has held various positions in other organizations, including Director at Goodwill Industries of Alberta and Treasurer/Director at Alberta Plastics Recycling Association. Guy also served as the Chairman and Treasurer/Director at the Alberta Emerald Foundation, as well as holding leadership roles at Recycling Council of Alberta and Contain-A-Way Ltd.
Guy West completed their MBA in Business from Athabasca University in 2001. Prior to that, they obtained an Advanced Graduate Diploma in Management from the same university between 1998 and 2000. In 1989, they attended the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) where they studied Accounting and Business/Management. In addition to their formal education, Guy has attended various seminars and workshops, including those at the Institute of Corporate Directors, Canada, where they focused on topics such as strategy, boardroom essentials, leadership, talent, governance, and CEO succession planning. Guy also attended programs on becoming a CEO and sustainability reporting.

Alberta Beverage Container Corporation (ABCRC) operates the collection and recycling of more than 55,000 different types of regulated, non-refillable beverage containers sold in Alberta. In 2020, this involved transporting and processing nearly 2 billion containers from more than 200 independently owned drop-off depots located throughout the province.
