Gillian Barnett

Gillian Barnett serves as the Vice President, Law, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO), a position held since April 2014, following various roles including Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs and Senior Regulatory Legal Counsel. Prior to joining AESO, Gillian practiced as a lawyer at Norton Rose Fulbright from May 2009 to April 2014 and gained experience as a Clerking Student at the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench and as a Summer Student at the Competition Bureau of Canada. Educational background includes an LLB from the University of Victoria and a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Political Studies from Queen's University.
