Junwen Yang

Junwen Yang is a seasoned geotechnical and dam safety engineer with extensive experience in the field. Currently serving as a Senior Dam Safety Engineer at Alberta Energy Regulator since January 2020, Junwen Yang previously held roles as a Geotechnical Engineer at Stantec and Amec Foster Wheeler, focusing on foundation design, construction monitoring, landslide assessment, and dam safety reviews. Earlier positions include Dam Safety Engineer at Alberta Environment, where Junwen Yang managed dam review projects and conducted safety inspections, and Geotechnical Specialist at the Energy Resources Conservation Board. Junwen Yang's career began with significant research as a Research Assistant at the University of Alberta, following educational achievements including a Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Alberta and an M.Sc. from China University of Geosciences.
