Jin Ligang

Jin Ligang is a Principal of Albright Stonebridge Group and Chairman of ASG China, part of Dentons Global Advisors. He leads ASG’s 14-person team in China and oversees ASG China’s business operations. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Jin headed the China team for MBP Consulting, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mayer Brown law firm, which provided strategic advisory services to multinational companies doing business in China.

For 20 years, Mr. Jin worked extensively on Chinese foreign trade and investment issues while serving in China’s Ministry of Commerce (formerly Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation) as Deputy Director, Director, and Deputy Director General. Mr. Jin was Director of U.S. Affairs and held a variety of diplomatic positions including Commercial Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Washington and Lead Commercial Officer at the Chinese Consulate in New York, where he worked closely with both Chinese and American companies on a wide range of trade and investment related issues. While at the Ministry of Commerce, he was part of the Chinese delegation for talks on China’s accession to the World Trade Organization and was directly involved in a series of bilateral talks including U.S.-China market access consultations, IPR discussions, and GATT negotiations. As a former senior Chinese government official, Mr. Jin brings unique firsthand knowledge to the firm’s China practice and advises companies on public policies and government relations strategies in-country.

Mr. Jin also worked in Hamburg, Germany as the Special Assistant to the Chairman of China United Trading Corp. GmbH, which was a principal trade and investment promotion agency in Western Europe for the Chinese government.

Mr. Jin graduated from Beijing Foreign Trade Institute. He also studied at Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali (LUISS) in Rome and at the University of Maryland. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English.

He is based in Beijing, China.
