Lynn Eckhert

N. Lynn Eckhert, MD is a Senior Advisor with ASG’s Health practice and a leading expert on global medical education. In addition to medical education, she advises clients on issues related to public health and health care delivery.

Dr. Eckhert, a pediatrician, most recently served as the Director of Academic Programs at Partners HealthCare International, where she worked to develop and improve medical and nursing schools and programs across the globe. Previously, she spent over twenty years at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where she held numerous senior positions including dean for international and public health programs and chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine. She served as president of the University Hospital medical staff and chair of the Executive Committee of the School of Medicine. Dr. Eckhert was the inaugural William Walsh Fellow at Project HOPE, traveling to Central America and Europe to develop primary care health educator programs, and served for two years as the interim dean of the newly developed medical school of Lebanese American University.

Dr. Eckhert has served in top leadership roles in the medical community’s most respected institutions. She was chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges, president of the Association of Teachers of Preventive Medicine, and chair of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. Dr. Eckhert is a founding member of the Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research, and a former member of the board of directors of the National Board of Medical Examiners and its international advisory committee.

She has been honored with the Lifetime Career Achievement Award by the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Distinguished Alumni Awards from Denison University and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She also received the Renaissance Woman Award from the Foundation for the History of Women in Medicine.

Dr. Eckhert received her MPH and DrPH from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health; her MD from the State University of New York at Buffalo; and her MS in nursing from New York Medical College. Dr. Eckhert has published numerous articles on global medical education.

She is based in Massachusetts.
