Shawna Kibuta

Shawna Kibuta is an experienced professional with a diverse background in counseling, community support, and education. Currently serving as a College & Career Readiness Counselor and Professional School Counselor at Albuquerque Public Schools since November 2019, Shawna specializes in student assessment and crisis intervention. Additionally, Shawna holds a long-standing role as Secretary of the Board of Directors for American Families United, focusing on advocacy and fundraising. Previous positions include Mental Health Counselor at Christian Counseling Professionals of New Mexico and various roles in education and community services, demonstrating a strong commitment to mental health and student success. Shawna earned a Master of Arts in Global and Sociocultural Studies and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Language, Literacy, & Sociocultural Studies at The University of New Mexico.
