Emily Ward has held several notable positions in the technology, law and policy fields. Emily began their career in 2002 as Vice President & Chief Technology Counsel for eBay, where they were responsible for the spin-off and IPO of PayPal from eBay Inc. In 2015, they became Vice President & Chief Technology, IP & Litigation Counsel for PayPal, and also joined the Board of Directors for Legal Momentum. That same year, they became Co-Founder, Board Director Emeritus & Former President of ChIPs Community, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development and advancement of women in technology, law & policy. In 2016, they were CEO & Owner for Calla Nava, a land development company with holdings in Silicon Valley, and held board positions for YTranslate, Averon and LabMate & Nearchus. In 2018, Emily became CEO, President & Board Chair of AlcaCruz, a video streaming engine with proprietary MultiView technology.

Emily Ward attended Purdue University from 1983 to 1987, where they earned an Engineer's Degree in Chemical Engineering. Emily then attended Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law from 1987 to 1990, where they earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.).
