Pascal Lavoie currently serves as the Vice President of Breakthrough Technology Strategy at Alcoa, where technical leadership and direction for R&D activities are provided, along with management of R&D teams focused on innovation programs. Pascal’s previous roles at Alcoa include Director of Smelting Manufacturing Excellence, Director of Global Smelting Technology, and Best Practice Manager of the Smelting Centre of Excellence. Prior to joining Alcoa, Pascal worked as a Consultant in Light Metals at Hatch and ran a consultancy firm, specializing in light metals R&D, process control, and management systems. Pascal's extensive experience in the field also includes positions at the Light Metals Research Centre at The University of Auckland, Noranda Aluminum, and Metallurgie Magnola. Educational credentials include a PhD in Chemical and Materials Engineering from The University of Auckland and a Bachelor’s degree in Materials and Metallurgy Engineering from Université Laval, among other qualifications.
