James Merrill

James Merrill is an experienced manager and chemist with a strong background in analytical chemistry and project management within the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Currently serving as a Manager at Alcon since November 2022, James previously held the role of Manager for GMP Analytical Chemistry at Aerie Pharmaceuticals until February 2023, overseeing the GMP analytical laboratory for ophthalmic active pharmaceutical ingredients and drug products. James's prior experience includes positions as Principal Chemist/Project Manager at Medtronic, Director of Analytics at Sapheon, Inc., and Senior Project Manager at Microbac Laboratories, Inc., where responsibilities spanned managing laboratories, developing and validating methods, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. James holds a Master of Science in Chemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
