Raymond Tong

Raymond Tong has a diverse work experience in the field of protein sciences. Raymond is currently an Associate Director and the Head of Protein Sciences at Alector since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Denali Therapeutics for six years, where they held various roles including Associate Director, Principal Scientist, and Scientist - Lab Leader. At Denali Therapeutics, they led efforts in protein purification, bio-conjugation, and developability assessment, managed external teams, and conducted research work for therapeutic programs. Before that, Raymond worked at Genentech for ten years as a Senior Scientific Researcher in Protein Chemistry, where they contributed to the purification and characterization of potential drug therapeutics. Raymond also worked at VaxGen as a Research Associate/Manufacturing Associate, where they were involved in purification and process development of a vaccine. Raymond started their career with a summer internship at Antibodies Inc.

Raymond Tong completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biotechnology with an emphasis in microbiology from the University of California, Davis from 1996 to 2000. Additionally, they obtained a Laser Light Scattering Certification from Wyatt Technology in November 2015. Furthermore, Raymond Tong enrolled in a Certificate Program in Clinical Research Conduct and Management at UC Berkeley, although the specific dates of completion are unknown.
