Umar Shamsi

Senior Test Engineer at Alereon

Umar Shamsi has a diverse work experience in various engineering roles. Umar started their career at IBM as a Full-time Co-Op, where they assisted in implementing Cache Coherency verification algorithms using C on UNIX systems. After that, they joined National Instruments, where they worked as a SW Engineer and later as a Staff SW Engineer. In these roles, Umar implemented and modified software drivers for different NI signal conditioning hardware products using Visual C++ and SoftICE Kernel debugger. Umar also designed and implemented LabVIEW/TestStand-based manufacturing test stations, which involved GPIB instrument interfacing and providing support for manufacturing abroad. Umar's most recent position was at Alereon, where they served as a Senior Test Engineer. Here, they designed, implemented, and maintained in-house tools for testing, configuration, and calibration of boards. Umar also developed manufacturing test code and tools using Visual Studio C#, LabVIEW, and AutoIt.

Umar Shamsi pursued their education in the field of Electrical Engineering with a computer focus at The University of Texas at Austin from 1990 to 1994, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Subsequently, from 1995 to 1997, they attended Stanford University and obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science.
