Gro Bogen Nilsen has a diverse work experience spanning over many years. Gro Bogen is currently the Director of Communications at Aleris, a position they have held since February 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Merck Norway as the Head of Governmental Affairs and Communications from March 2019 to January 2022. From April 2017 to April 2021, they served as the Head of Board at Norsk kommunikasjonsforening. Gro Bogen served as the Deputy Director of Communications/Acting Director of Communications at The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) from September 2008 to August 2011. Gro also worked at Buskerud Hospital as the Head of Communications from April 2004 to September 2008, and as a Senior Communications Adviser from January 2004 to March 2004. Additionally, they worked in The Communications Division at The Ministry of Health and Care Services (HOD) in February 2008 and at City of Oslo, Flyktning- og innvandreretaten as an Information Officer, Editor, and Web Editor from August 2001 to December 2003.
Gro Bogen Nilsen attended Volda University College (HVO) from 1999 to 2001, where they studied Communications, Media Studies, and Journalism. Prior to that, from 1993 to 1998, they studied at the University of Oslo (UiO) and obtained a Cand.mag. degree in French, History, and Art History. In 1992, they briefly studied French at Université catholique de l'Ouest.
