Al Villalon

Al Villalon is currently the EVP & CFO at Alerus Financial Corp. Prior to this, they served as a CFO Group DEI Council Member at US Bank from March 2020 to January 2022. In this role, they assisted senior management in corporate efforts to improve workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion. From June 2013 to March 2020, they served as Special Project for CEO and Board of Directors at Thrivent. In this role, they provided detailed competitive and industry analysis to the CEO and Board of Directors to help form an overall corporate strategy. Al also analyzed each of Thrivent’s operating segments to help develop recommendations for potential margin improvement and evaluated potential future opportunities that could utilize current excess capital and help increase the company’s returns and intrinsic value. Prior to Thrivent, they served as a Vice President / Senior Equity Research Analyst at Nuveen Investments from July 2008 to June 2013 and as an Assistant Vice President / Equity Research Analyst at Federated Investors from January 2001 to July 2008. Al began their career in the industry as a Summer Intern: Equity Research (Small Cap Value) at Munder Capital Management from May 2000 to August 2000.

Al Villalon's educational career includes a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA in Finance from Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business.
