Matt joined Alerus in 2010 and has nearly 20 years of experience in the financial industry. His career has focused largely on commercial banking in both Grand Forks, North Dakota, and St. Paul, Minnesota.
As a lead business advisor, Matt is responsible for generating new business opportunities and managing significant client portfolios in the areas of banking, retirement plans, and wealth management.
Matt serves as the primary contact for new and existing clients, presents formal product proposals, and maintains ongoing prospects for new business development. He also works closely with experts across Alerus to serve business clients’ holistic financial needs and ensure access to the company’s suite of diversified services.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of North Dakota.

Through its subsidiary, Alerus Financial, National Association, the Company provides financial solutions to businesses and consumers. It operates through four segments: Banking, Retirement and Benefit Services, Wealth Management and Mortgage. The Banking division offers a line of loan, deposit, cash management, and treasury services. Retirement and Benefit Services provides recordkeeping and administration services to retirement plans; employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) trustee, recordkeeping, and administration, and investment fiduciary services to retirement plans. The Wealth Management division provides advisory and planning services, investment management, and trust and fiduciary services to clients.
