James is a member of AAFCPAs’ Managed Accounting Solutions practice, providing cloud-based outsourced accounting & finance services for privately-held companies. He serves diverse commercial businesses, including cannabis dispensaries & cultivators, and professional services providers.

James provides infrastructure set-up and process automation as well as knowledgeable financial leadership and accounting oversight. He creates systems and processes for analyzing and reporting financial information, ensures clients follow legal and regulatory requirements, and recommends improvements for business procedures. James also assists leadership in preparing annual budgets and tracking financial data.

James helps clients right-size their finance function by supervising junior accountants in the execution of transactional accounting activities. This includes oversight of accounts payable & cash disbursements, payroll processing, invoicing & tracking of accounts receivable, processing of credit card transactions, journal entry recording, general ledger account reconciliations & maintenance of subsidiary records, and monthly closing procedures. James has experience overseeing inventory accounting for cannabis operators, including full absorption cost accounting and other cost accounting techniques, the application of code section 471, and ensuring the accounting stands up to IRS scrutiny.

James works collaboratively with AAFCPAs’ multi-disciplinary team, as appropriate, to ensure the full depth of the firm’s resources are leveraged to meet clients’ evolving needs. He coordinates with clients’ tax accountants and auditors, and keeps records organized and readily available for examination. James joined AAFCPAs in 2015 in the firm’s Assurance division as a summer intern. He has extensive experience planning and executing financial statement audits for diverse commercial businesses, which gives him a solid foundation in best practices for financial statement presentation and internal control procedures.
