Alga Biosciences
Daria Balatsky serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Alga Biosciences since May 2021. Prior to this role, Daria was a PhD candidate in Chemical Physics at the University of California, Berkeley, conducting research on electron hydrodynamics in the James Analytis group from June 2020 to March 2022. Daria also gained experience as an Honours Thesis Student at The University of British Columbia, focusing on the use of a tantalum catalyst for hydroaminoalkylation in the Schafer group from August 2019 to May 2020. Additional positions include a full-time Cooperative Education Student at Chinook Therapeutics, Inc., working on small molecule synthesis for rare kidney diseases, and a project at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids involving the molecular beam epitaxial growth of thin films. Daria also contributed to research in nanoscale materials at the Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute and interned as a Scientific Programmer at OpenEye Scientific Software, Inc. The academic background includes ongoing PhD studies at UC Berkeley and a Bachelor’s degree from The University of British Columbia.
