Paul Azunre

Founder and Chief Architect at Algorine

Paul Azunre has worked in the field of AI, ML, and Optimization Research for over a decade. In 2004, they began their career as a Research Assistant at Swarthmore College, where they carried out experiments on various novel loudspeaker designs and developed software tools in MATLAB and LabVIEW. In 2007, they joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation Postdoctoral Fellow, where they explored extensions of their PhD dissertation research. In 2008, they worked as a SimBiology Intern at The MathWorks. In 2014, they became the Lead Optimization Technology Developer at The Salemander, Inc. In 2015, they worked as a Senior Engineer at Oracle, where they helped several teams across Oracle's Microsystems Division improve cutting-edge proprietary route optimization software. In the same year, they also founded Algorine, a research lab spun out of MIT to advance basic AI, ML and Optimization Research. In 2017, they joined New Knowledge as the Director of AI Research and Lead Research Scientist, where they led participation in DARPA's research programs. Finally, in 2019, they became the Director of Data Science at Dun & Bradstreet.

Paul Azunre's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) which they obtained between 2009 and 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT between 2007 and 2009. Paul also holds a dual Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Bachelor of Art (B.A.) in Engineering (B.Sc.) and Economics (B.A.) from Swarthmore College which they obtained between 2003 and 2007. Finally, they attended Opoku Ware School between 1999 and 2002.
