Kwame Lawson has a diverse work history with experience in Arabic media analysis, research, and education. Starting in 2000, they worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the College of William Mary, teaching Arabic language and literature courses. From 2003 to 2006, they served as an Assistant Professor at Georgia State University, teaching Arabic language as well as courses on politics and Arabic literature. Kwame then transitioned to a role as an Arabic Media Analyst at USG, where they provided analysis on Arabic media environments and political landscapes to inform US policy makers. Kwame later worked as the Managing Editor for the Fikra Forum at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy and as a Research Director at the Project On Middle East Democracy. In 2019, Kwame joined Circinus, LLC as an Arabic Media Analyst before joining the Middle East Broadcasting Networks as an Arabic Media Consultant.
Kwame Lawson completed their Bachelor's degree in International/Global Studies at Emory University from 1988 to 1992. Kwame then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Arabic Language and Literature at the University of St Andrews from 1992 to 2000. In addition, they obtained a certification in Classical and Colloquial Arabic from the Center for Arabic Study Abroad (CASA), American University of Cairo in May 1993.
