Richard Onyett

Software Engineering Manager at Alif Semiconductor

Richard Onyett has extensive work experience in the semiconductor industry. Richard currently serves as the Software Engineering Manager at Alif Semiconductor since June 2020. Prior to this, they worked as the Director of Software Engineering at MegaChips Technology America Corporation from September 2016 to June 2020.

Before joining MegaChips, Richard held various roles at STMicroelectronics. Richard served as the Director of Applications Engineering from July 2010 to July 2016. During this time, they also worked as the Applications Engineering Manager for the Consumer Business division. Their responsibilities included working on MPEG2, MPEG-HD, and H.264 solutions for digital video. Richard started their tenure at STMicroelectronics as an Application Engineer in September 1999.

Prior to STMicroelectronics, Richard worked at SGS Thomson Microelectronics, where they held the position of Senior Staff Engineer from October 1996 to September 1999. Richard was responsible for major volume set-top box designs with US satellite and cable providers. Richard also performed software support for 16-bit and 32-bit microprocessors.

Richard started their career as an Applications Engineer at INMOS Ltd from October 1988 to September 1990. Prior to that, they worked as a Software Engineer at INMOS, where they were involved in SUN/Solaris kernel drivers for processor development systems.

Richard Onyett attended Teesside University from 1982 to 1985, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
