Maritza Okata

Maritza Okata serves as the Chief Legal Officer and Managing Director at AlixPartners since April 2022. Prior to this role, Maritza held the position of Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Fannie Mae from April 2020 to April 2022, leading legal strategies for a Fortune 25 public company. Maritza's extensive experience includes serving as a Partner at Vinson & Elkins, where expertise spanned transactional advisory in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and corporate governance, particularly in cross-border transactions in Latin America, from February 2011 to April 2020. Maritza was also a Partner at O'Melveny & Myers LLP and completed prestigious clerkships at the Supreme Court of the United States and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Maritza began a career in law as an Associate at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz after an initial role at The Boston Consulting Group. Maritza holds an A.B. from Harvard University and a J.D. from Yale Law School, with additional formative education at the British School of Rio de Janeiro and Washington International School.
