Marc Marion

Exec. Director of Operations at Allen & Company

Marc’s passion for Surveying and Mapping started at a very young age, when he took an entry level rodman position at Allen & Company, right out of high school. Marc continued growing in the field being promoted to Senior Crew Chief as he completed his Associates Degree in Design and married his high school sweetheart.

Coming of age in Surveying & Mapping during the rise of technologies such as GPS and robotics, Marc was able to quickly use these tools to be very effective and efficient in the field. He was also able to teach and train others with the new technology and mentored many new survey technicians down a long-term career in the industry. He was given the opportunity to survey all over the Southeast US as well as most of the Caribbean as a one-man crew.

During the Great Recession, Marc left the industry and leveraged his design degree and his passion for technology and training to obtain a position as a Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance Contractor for the US Army Program Executive Office of Simulation & Training (PEO STRI). This work allowed him to learn more about training, simulation and gaming systems as he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Marc also served as the Executive Director of Operation Giveback a local 501(c)3 Non-Profit organization benefiting Wounded Warriors and Families of Fallen heroes. He has also served as the Chief of Operations at a local Event Management company focused on Training, Simulation, and Gaming events.

When the Survey market began to blossom again, Marc returned to Allen & Company as the Director of Field Operations. He assisted with creating standards and production systems to benefit and organize the field production side of the business. Marc was only back at Allen for a two-year period, when he was presented with an opportunity to create a Medical Simulation and Training department at Florida Hospital (now Advent Health).

Following his passion, Marc was able to grow a System Training team to service seven area hospitals with state-of-the-art medical simulation equipment; training medical doctors, nurses and other clinical practitioners and administrative staff. During his time at Florida Hospital he obtained his certification as a Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS). He also served as the Manager of the Simulation and Training Center at Florida Hospital East Orlando.

As he worked at Florida Hospital, Marc continued practicing surveying part time for Allen & Company as well as other various other local Surveying and Mapping firms. He worked all week in a clinical training environment and performed Survey field work every weekend. During this period, Marc realized that the clinical environment was not his passion and discovered an opportunity to return back to Allen & Company. He applied his management, business, and training skills to help modernize Allen & Company and help the company grow and diversify into new areas of operation.

He currently serves as the Director of Business Operations and is focused on business systems, staff development and training, as well as establishing Advance Technologies and SUE operations. Marc is currently pursuing his Professional Survey License, as well as driving the modernization, professional development, and specialization of all the staff at Allen & Company.
