Rie Schmidt

Flute Teacher at Allen-Stevenson School

Rie Schmidt is an accomplished musician with extensive experience in performance and education. Since January 1999, Rie has served as a musician with the American Symphony Orchestra, specializing in 2nd flute and piccolo. Additionally, Rie holds the position of associate principal 2nd flute and piccolo with the Westchester Philharmonic since 1995. In the realm of ballet, Rie has been a substitute musician for the New York City Ballet since 1988, covering all positions. Rie also dedicates time to flute education, teaching private lessons at the Allen-Stevenson School, 92nd Street Y, and Bloomingdale School of Music, beginning in 2003, 2002, and 2004 respectively. As a member of Flute Force Inc. since April 1981, Rie contributes to what is considered one of the first professional flute quartets in the United States. Rie Schmidt obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Music from Purchase College, SUNY, and attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York City.
