Kelvin J. Cochran has a diverse work experience spanning over four decades. Kelvin J. began their career in 1981 as the Fire Chief of the Shreveport Fire Department, a position they held until 2007. In 2008, Cochran served as the Fire Chief for the Atlanta Fire Rescue before transitioning to the role of US Fire Administrator for the US Fire Administration from 2009 to 2010. Kelvin J. returned to the Atlanta Fire Rescue as Fire Chief from 2010 to 2015. Following their tenure in the fire department, Cochran joined Elizabeth Baptist Church as the Chief Operating Officer from 2015 to 2021. In 2021, they joined Alliance Defending Freedom as a Senior Fellow and Vice President, and later took on the additional role of Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Faith Initiatives in 2022.
Kelvin J. Cochran completed their Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University, where they attended from 2013 to 2018.
