Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities

The Alliance formed as an extension of the successful Coalition of Healthy Communities (CHC) network. CHC was founded in 1993 by four local coalition groups seeking to strengthen their existing collaboration though the creation of an umbrella organization. In 2003, CHC members, with the support of Oakland County's Office of Substance Abuse Services, launched the Alliance of Coalition for Healthy Communities to begin the next phase in Oakland Prevention. Today, the Alliance has grown to include 21+ community prevention coalitions serving 55+ local communities. Individuals and organizations who share our commitment to building healthy and drug-free communities can also become members. The Alliance also provides recovery support and wellness initiatives including free opioid overdose reversal trainings. Mission: Through substance abuse prevention, mental and physical wellness, and recovery support programs, the Alliance connects, strengthens, and mobilizes strategic partners to promote healthier communities. Vision: The Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities will be nationally-recognized as a leader of best practices in collaboration on substance abuse prevention initiatives that create and sustain healthy communities. Core Values: As stewards of community trust, the Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities believes in: Collaboration. Prevention. Results
