Jeffrey Ripp has a diverse and extensive work experience. Jeffrey started their career in 1994 as an Environmental Chemist at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, where they administered and revised rules for environmental testing. Jeffrey then worked as a Legislative Analyst for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Resources from 1999 to 2000. In 2000, they returned to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as a Water Supply Specialist.
From 2001 to 2007, Ripp worked at the Wisconsin Legislative Audit Bureau as a Program Evaluation Supervisor. In 2009, they joined the Wisconsin Office of Recovery and Reinvestment as a Reporting Coordinator, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Ripp's career in public service continued at the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, where they held various roles from 2007 to 2017. As the Administrator of the Division of Energy Regulation, they oversaw regulatory programs for electric and natural gas utilities, advised policymakers on energy legislation, and managed a team of professionals. Jeffrey also served as the Deputy Administrator - Gas and Energy and Assistant Administrator - Water during their tenure at the commission.
In 2015, Ripp became the Director of the Wisconsin Public Utility Institute, where they led the institute's initiatives. Jeffrey then moved on to the Statewide Energy Efficiency and Renewables Administration, serving as the Director from 2018 to 2020.
In 2017, Ripp joined Alliant Energy as the Director of Regulatory Strategy and Solutions. Their current role involves developing strategies and solutions related to regulatory matters.
In 2018, Ripp also took on another directorial position at Wisconsin Valley Improvement Company. Overall, Jeffrey Ripp's work experience spans over multiple sectors and demonstrates their expertise in regulatory strategy, program evaluation, and energy conservation.
Jeffrey Ripp received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1994. Jeffrey went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Water Resources Management from the same university, graduating in 1998.
