Allies in Music Education (AME)
Founded on the principles of inclusion, allyship, and accessibility, Allies in Music Education (AME) is a nonprofit organization focused on ending the further development of inequity, inequality, and injustice through music education. The entire AME team is committed to the belief that learning is a lifelong process and has the power to effect lasting personal and social change. We work towards this mission by providing accessible community music programs to communities and by helping music educators create safe, culturally sustainable, and inclusive learning spaces. AME’s online Resource Center (available nationwide) provides music educators with resources for creating culturally relevant and responsible pedagogy, materials for diversification of curricula, and a variety of other resources based around the principles of inclusion, allyship, and accessibility. AME’s Community Music Center (available in the Greater Lowell area) provides completely accessible community music programs focused on the use of progressive pedagogical techniques; meaning both the use of 21st-century techniques and technology as well as our progressive philosophical approach. It is our intention to establish AME Community Music Centers across the country to bring music education to all.
