Helen Choe, MSW, LCSW

Helen Choe, MSW, LCSW has a diverse work experience in the field of social work. Helen currently works as a Social Worker/Health Coordinator at AlohaCare since February 2020. Prior to that, they were a Social Worker at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from September 2019 to February 2020. From April 2018 to August 2019, Helen served as a Social Worker in the Emergency Department at Pali Momi Medical Center, providing counseling and referral services to patients and their families.

Before that, from October 2016 to August 2019, they worked as a Medical Social Worker at Kuakini Medical Center, where they conducted psychosocial assessments, provided counseling and discharge planning, and served as a community resource linkage for patients. Helen also has experience as a Clinical MSW Intern at Queen's Medical Center Day Treatment Services from August 2015 to May 2016, where they facilitated psycho-educational process groups and conducted assessments and treatment planning.

Earlier in their career, from October 2013 to September 2015, Helen worked as a Paraprofessional/Skills Trainer at Hawaii Behavioral Health, providing one-on-one supervision and support to students with behavioral health challenges. Helen also gained experience as an MSW Intern at Ho'omalie (Private Practice) from January 2015 to August 2015, shadowing an LCSW and providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families.

Helen's work experience also includes a role as a Behavior Interventionist at Autism Comprehensive Educational Services (ACES) from February 2013 to September 2013.

Helen Choe earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where they studied from 2008 to 2013. Helen then pursued a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at the same university from 2014 to 2016. Prior to their college education, Helen Choe obtained their High School Diploma from Sacred Hearts Academy in 2008.

In terms of certifications, Helen Choe obtained a license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in November 2020. Helen also holds the credentials of a Licensed Social Worker, which they obtained in July 2016. Additionally, they gained certification in BLS for Healthcare from the American Heart Association in March 2019, and completed the CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training in October 2013.
