Jay Goyal has a diverse work experience. In 2002, they were a Program Manager at the Transportation Security Administration, where they played a crucial role in the federalization of airport security. From 2004 to 2005, they worked as a Project Manager at the Adelante Foundation, focusing on microfinance. In 2006, they interned as a Category Manager at eBay. Jay then joined Microsoft in 2007, first as a Sr. Manager in Strategy and Business Development for Bing, where they led major search agreements with Verizon and Nokia. Later, they became the Director of Product Management for Bing Mobile, where they developed local commerce products to generate revenue. In 2012, they founded Actively Learn, an education platform that was subsequently acquired by Achieve3000 and then McGraw Hill. Finally, in 2022, they founded Alongside and currently serves as the CEO.

Jay Goyal attended Duke University from 1997 to 2001, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Public Policy. Jay later pursued further education at Harvard Business School from 2005 to 2007, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on General Management.
