Jim Santi Owen

Jim Santi Owen serves as the Oakland Cultural Affairs Commissioner and is a member of the Funding Advisory Committee for the Cultural Funding Program with the City of Oakland since September 2015. In addition, Jim Santi Owen holds positions as a Board Member at the Swapan Chaudhuri Digital Tabla Library since December 2022, and as Faculty at California Institute of the Arts since January 2021. Jim Santi Owen Music, Inc., established in March 2001, focuses on music production and education, emphasizing cross-cultural, traditional, and contemporary music. Furthermore, Jim Santi Owen has been on the faculty at California Jazz Conservatory, Ali Akbar College of Music, and Alonzo King's LINES Ballet, among others, while also serving as Middle School Music Director at Park Day School and Performance Arts Expert at AltSchool. Jim Santi Owen's educational background includes an MFA in World Music from California Institute of the Arts, a Bachelor's Degree in Humanities from New College of California, and Orff Certification in Music Education from Mills College.
