Marishka Z.

Marishka Z. has a diverse work experience in the field of virtual reality (VR) and game development. Marishka started their career as a Unity VR Developer, Level Designer, and 3D Artist at Women in VR, where they created an interactive VR experience exploring Canadian women in film. Marishka later worked at the National Film Board of Canada, where they programmed mechanics, designed levels, and implemented cinematics for an interactive room-scale VR project.

Marishka also worked at Upptack Studios as a Lead Game Designer and Unity Mobile Generalist, where they contributed to game development and handled VFX. Marishka then joined Stugan as a Solo Game Designer/Developer in Residence, where they worked on the development of an upcoming game titled "SoothSayer."

In their previous roles, Marishka worked at House of VR as a VR Host & Server, Crows Crows Crows as a Technical Artist & Designer, and realities.io as a 3D Generalist. Marishka also worked at Chatterbug as a Virtual Reality Software Engineer, where they collaborated with a team to create an interactive VR application for language learning.

Currently, Marishka is working as a Junior-Mid Full-Stack Software Engineer at alpakas, where they are involved in creating and updating website features and components using technologies like React, React Native, TypeScript/Javascript, GraphQL, Node.js, NestJS, and Next.

Marishka Z. began their education at Turner Fenton Secondary School from 2008 to 2012, where they completed the International Baccalaureate Program for their high school degree. Marishka then attended OCAD University from 2012 to 2016, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Digital Futures Initiative, focusing on Bachelor of Design. Marishka later pursued further education in 2021 at Ironhack, a global tech school ranked in the top 3 in the world, where they completed a program in Web Development.

In addition to their formal education, Marishka has also obtained certifications. In 2014, they obtained the SmartServe Certification from Smartserve. Marishka also holds a WHMIS Certification, although the specific details regarding the institution and obtaining month/year are not provided.
