David Simmons

David Simmons has a diverse work experience that spans from 2015 to 2022. In 2015, they were a NASA Space Grant Intern at the University of Arizona and an Undergraduate Research Assistant at RWTH Aachen University. From 2016 to 2022, they were a PhD Candidate in Mathematics and Graduate Student Instructor at the University of Washington. In 2022, they also became an Algorithm Engineer and Data Science Intern at Alpenglow Biosciences. In these roles, they have improved data processing pipelines for terabyte-sized microscopy datasets, optimized performance and accuracy of algorithms, and implemented Python source code with parallelization.

David Simmons has a comprehensive educational background. From 2013 to 2016, they attended the University of Arizona and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and German Studies. David then attended the University of Washington from 2016 to 2019 and earned a Master of Science in Mathematics. David is currently enrolled at the University of Washington and is expected to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics: Advanced Data Science in 2022.
