Jonathan Liu

Jonathan Liu has a strong academic background with experience in various roles at different institutions. Jonathan started their career as an Instructor at Stanford University School of Medicine's Molecular Imaging Program. After that, they worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Stony Brook University. In 2014, they joined the University of Washington as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and subsequently became an Associate Professor and then an Adjunct Associate Professor in the same department. In 2017, they also took on roles as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology at the University of Washington - School of Medicine. In 2018, they co-founded Alpenglow Biosciences. More recently, Jonathan has become a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Washington. Additionally, they hold the position of Adjunct Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology at the University of Washington - School of Medicine.

Jonathan Liu completed their high school education at Iolani School from 1991 to 1995, where they obtained their high school diploma. Jonathan then attended Princeton University from 1995 to 1999 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Physics. Following their undergraduate studies, they joined Stanford University and pursued a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from 1999 to 2000. Continuing their education at Stanford, Jonathan obtained their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on laser-based combustion diagnostics from 2000 to 2005. After completing their PhD, they enrolled at Stanford University School of Medicine from 2005 to 2009 for their postdoctoral studies, specializing in Biomedical Optics and Molecular Imaging.
