Sanjay Palsamudram

Sanjay has over 25+ years of experience in the Semiconductor, Wireless, and Product Engineering/R&D Services Industry. Before joining AlphaICs, Sanjay was working as a CEO of Yana Mobility, a leading embedded systems, and electronics company that develops and manufactures automotive products for Indian and European auto OEMs.

As CEO, he leads the business strategy, customer acquisition, product definition, and engineering execution of diagnostics and telematics products for connected car solutions. Prior to Yana, he was the co-founder and COO of Smartplay Technologies, a 1200+ employees-product engineering services company, that was acquired by Aricent. He led business P&L, operations, and eng. execution of Semiconductor BU – both digital and analog. He spearheaded EDA methodology, SoC turnkey development, and IP solutions business at SmartPlay, and was responsible for foundry interface, EDA contracts, and engineering execution; delivering multiple customer products from RTL to GDS2.

Prior to SmartPlay, he spent 15 years in the US with extensive experience in setting up and managing world-wide operations and product development teams for Texas Instruments and Sun Microsystems. At TI, he was the General Manager of wireless division, responsible for global R&D and delivery of several modems and application processors that powered the top 5 cell phone OEMs. At Sun Microsystems, he held many engineering leadership positions spanning from hand-on lead custom circuit designer to Sr. design manager in delivering four generations of UltraSPARC Microprocessors. He pioneered a pure-play foundry model for silicon sourcing with Taiwan foundries. He was instrumental in bootstrapping and setting up Sun’s “India Engineering Center” working with the Indian Central and State Governments.

He is also an Angel Investor, investing in deep-technology companies in B2B industry sectors. He serves on the board of several of these companies taking an active part in strategy and high-level operations. He graduated from Arizona State University with a Masters in Electrical Engineering and has an undergraduate degree in Electronics from Bangalore University, India.
