Tamas Kosa

Chief Science Officer at AlphaMicron

Tamas is a co-founder of the company and is the lead liquid crystal scientist.

His ability to provide innovative liquid crystals solutions is highlighted by his maintenance of a number of publications and patents. He also runs AlphaMicron’s electronics lab. A Hungarian native, he received both his MS and PhD in Physics from Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest. Tamas has trained all over the world: after holding research assistant posts at the Research Institute for Particle and Nuclear Physics and the Research Institute for Solid State Physics, both in Budapest, he completed a post-doctoral Fellowship at Edinburgh University’s Department of Electrical Engineering, finally making his way to Kent State University’s Liquid Crystal Institute, where he currently holds an adjunct assistant professorship. When not in the lab or solving his colleagues’ IT problems, Tamas is a robotic whiz with a soft spot for the more “ancient” science of watches and clocks. An athlete who loves to push his limits, he is proud of his personal record holding a plank position for 10 minutes, and has even tried Parkour!
