Megan Strauss, LMSW, is the Founder and Executive Director of Alpine Achievers Initiative, which focuses on enhancing academic and professional opportunities for youth in rural Colorado with a $2.8 million annual operating budget since August 2012. As a founding member of the Chaffee Childcare Initiative, Megan played a pivotal role in establishing a community-based childcare center, securing 501(c)3 status, and developing organizational bylaws. Previous experience includes serving as a Prevention Specialist at Saguache County Department of Social Services, where Megan launched a free after-school program, and as a Mathematics Instructor/Student Services Coordinator at Mountain Valley School District, where innovative attendance policies improved student engagement. Earlier career roles involve recruitment and administrative coordination for Southwest Conservation Corps, managing budgets and overseeing AmeriCorps volunteer onboarding. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas A&M University.

We support the positive development of youth and young adults by lifting them through academic achievement and grounding them in their wilderness heritage. AAI operates with the support of a team of AmeriCorps members in the southern Colorado.
