Avalanche Forecaster at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows

Gene Urie is a seasoned geologist with extensive experience in geological field projects, including geologic mapping, drill project supervision, and logging of core and drill cuttings. Since June 1993, Gene has operated as a geologist at Urie Natural Resource Consultants, serving notable clients such as Pilot Gold and Fronteer Gold. Gene's background also includes a long-standing role as an avalanche forecaster at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort since November 1986, focusing on avalanche hazard evaluation and control, along with being a certified member of the Outdoor Emergency Care and Association of Professional Patrollers. Prior professional experiences include geologist positions at Rand Mining, Newmont Mining Corporation, and Kennecott/BP Minerals America, contributing to various geological projects. Gene holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology/Earth Science from Western Colorado University, earned between 1973 and 1977.
