John Freeburger has extensive experience in emergency communications and operations, currently serving as a Radio System Operations Controller at ALTA IT Services, LLC since April 2020. In addition, John has held various roles with DHS FEMA Urban Search & Rescue since 1994, including Communications Unit Leader and Lead Instructor for the Communications Specialist Course. John was also a key member of the Inter Agency Board, contributing to the design of best practices for emergency preparedness. Previous positions include instructor for DHS-approved courses at SAIC and leadership roles within the National Capital Region Incident Management Team and Communication Interoperability Group. With over 33 years in the fire service with Montgomery County, Maryland Fire & Rescue, John is a retired Master Firefighter/Rescuer and holds advanced certifications in communications and emergency management. John has pursued educational opportunities at the University of Maryland and Montgomery Community College.
