Rita Elena Melian Zamora, PhD has a diverse work experience, starting in 2008 as a Translator and TV presenter (English-Spanish-Portuguese) for La Prensa Latina. In the same year, they also began their role as a Translation and Interpretation Professor at the University of Havana. In 2011, they joined Insigna Consultoria para Recursos Humanos as a Linguist & Researcher, and was later promoted to Senior Linguistic Consultant. In 2012, they began their role as a Ph.D Student on Translation (Applied Linguistics) at Universidade Estadual de Campinas. In 2017, they became a Professor at Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas, Sao Paulo. Finally, in 2018 they were a Research Scholar at the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. In 2020, they joined ALTA Language Services, Inc. as a Language Project Manager.
Rita Elena Melian Zamora, PhD obtained their Bachelor of Arts - BA in English Language Literature (focus on Interpretation and Translation) (Degree hold with honors) from the University of Havana in 2003-2008. Rita Elena then completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Linguistics and Translation from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas in 2012-2016. In 2015, they were a Visiting Scholar at the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts in the field of Ethnographic Writing and Translation. In 2018-2019, they completed their Postdoctoral Studies in Anthropology at the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Agile Project Management: Scrum from Udemy in 2021, Agile Fundamentals: Including Scrum and Kanban - 2021 from Udemy in 2021, and HIPAA Awareness for Business Associates from HIPAATraining.com in 2020.
