Peter Kuper is a Partner with ClearSky, with over $300M million currently invested in early-stage security companies. Prior to joining ClearSky, he was a Partner at In-Q-Tel, a venture capital firm that invests in companies developing technologies vital to the intelligence community, a position he started in 2009. In this role, he helped oversee In-Q-Tel’s information security investments and provided advice on cyber and technology issues to various federal government agencies (including intelligence and defense agencies, the White House, the Department of Energy, and the United States Postal Service) and held a TS-SCI clearance.
Since 2008, Kuper is also a founder and Managing Partner at HypAdvisor Consulting, a cybersecurity-focused consultancy that advises a range of industry participants, from startups to investment and research firms and large enterprises. He also currently serves as a consultant to the Internal Revenue Service and, since 2001, has been a member of the faculty at the Institute of Applied Network Security (IANS). Kuper also previously conducted equity research, including as the Lead Enterprise Software Analyst at Morgan Stanley and as Director of Equity Research at SG Cowen. He has authored numerous articles, papers and reports, and is a frequent speaker and lecturer, in the field of cybersecurity. Kuper holds a B.S. from the University of Rhode Island in business administration.
