Ad de Vries has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles.

Ad started as a PhD student at the Chemistry Faculty of Universiteit Utrecht in 1984, specializing in luminescence of Gadolinium compounds.

After completing their PhD in 1988, they worked as a research chemist at Akzo Fibers Research in Arnhem until 1993.

From 1993 to 2015, they held various positions at AkzoNobel, including Senior Intellectual Property Counsel, Director of Intellectual Property, and Director of Intellectual Property for the Asia Pacific region.

In 2011, they joined CPO Radbouduniversiteit Nijmegen as a board member of the Stichting Beroepsopleiding Octrooigemachtigden until 2016.

Since 2016, they have been working at ALTANA AG, initially as the Head of Patents and currently as the Head of Intellectual Property.

Throughout their career, Ad de Vries has gained significant expertise in intellectual property management and has made valuable contributions to the companies they have worked for.

Ad de Vries has a diverse education history. In 1973 to 1979, they attended Bruynelyceum where they studied VWO - GymnasiumB. Following this, from 1979 to 1984, they pursued a degree in Chemistry and obtained their MSc from Utrecht University. In 1988 to 1989, they enrolled at SMID for an undisclosed field of study. Later, in 1996 to 1997, they attended CEIPI where they focused on Intellectual Property Law. Lastly, in 2012 to 2013, they completed a Ceipi Diploma on Patent Litigation in Europe at CEIPI, specializing in Patent Litigation in Europe.
