Alex Byrne

Alex Byrne is a seasoned engineering and program management professional with extensive experience across various sectors, including Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, and Renewable Energy. Currently serving as Technical Director at ALTEN LTD since September 2025, Alex is responsible for the technical direction and delivery of Engineering Services. Alex previously held roles as Engineering and Programmes Director at Edwards Vacuum, overseeing a team of 220 professionals, and as VP Global Engineering and New Programmes at Sustainable Marine Energy, focusing on innovation in tidal and offshore renewable energy. With a robust background at AVIC Cabin Systems, Safran, and Rolls-Royce, Alex has demonstrated leadership in managing large teams and significant budgets while driving strategic initiatives and product development. Alex holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Sheffield and completed a Management Development Programme at Safran University.
