Warodom Khamphanchai, PhD has over 11 years of work experience in various roles and companies. In 2008, they started their career as an Engineering Student Trainee at the Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand. warodom then worked as an Engineering Exchange Student at the Advanced Research Institute, Virginia Tech in 2010.
From 2009 to 2011, Warodom worked as a Distribution Power System Engineer at the Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand, where they conducted research on renewable energy integration and smart grid technologies.
In 2011, they became a Graduate Research Assistant at the Smart Grid Lab, Advanced Research Institute, where they worked on smart grid/demand response projects and the integration of distributed energy resources. warodom also ensured interoperability between intelligent power distribution networks and Home Energy Management Systems.
From 2013 to 2015, Warodom worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Building Energy Management Lab, Advanced Research Institute, Virginia Tech. warodom served as a Full Stack Developer for Building Energy Management Open Source Software (BEMOSS) and also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant during this time.
In 2015, they briefly worked as a Software Development Engineer at SmartThings, before joining the Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand as a Researcher in 2016.
In the same year, they also became a Bangkok AI Ambassador at CITY.AI.
Most recently, in 2019, Warodom took on the role of Chief Executive Officer at AltoTech.
Warodom Khamphanchai, PhD, obtained their Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand from 2005 to 2009. warodom then pursued a Master of Engineering degree in Energy with a specialization in Electric Power System Management at the Asian Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2011. Following this, they attended Virginia Tech from 2011 to 2016, where they earned their Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
In addition to their formal education, Warodom Khamphanchai has obtained various certifications. warodom completed "Azure Machine Learning Development: 1 Basic Concepts" and "Azure Machine Learning Development: 2 Learning ML Studio" at Lynda.com in January 2019 and October 2018, respectively. warodom also received the "Fundamental of Deep Learning for Computer Vision" certification from NVIDIA in August 2018. Furthermore, they completed the "React: Ecosystems" certification at Lynda.com in July 2017, and the "Amazon Web Services: Deploying and Provisioning" certification in June 2017.
Before their Ph.D., they pursued additional certifications such as "One Month Programming for Non-Programmers" from One Month in June 2016 and "Getting Started with AWS - Technical" from AWS Pop-up Loft, San Francisco in December 2015. Other certifications include "Up and Running with Python," "Installing and Running WordPress: MAMP," "Up and Running with NoSQL Databases," "Home Automation using a Vera and Z-Wave," "Make a Living as a Smart Home Installer," "Up and Running with Bash Scripting," "Foundations of Programming: Databases," "Getting Started with MakerBot 3D Printers," "Up and Running with IFTTT," "Up and Running with Arduino," "Foundations of Programming: Web Services," "Python 3 Essential Training," and "Up and Running with Raspberry Pi." These certifications were obtained between 2014 and 2016 from various institutions such as Lynda.com, Udemy, and AWS Pop-up Loft, San Francisco.
