Ashley Peterson currently serves as Assistant General Counsel at Altria since May 2023 and has been selected as a 2024 Fellow for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity. Prior experience includes a role as an Antitrust & Commercial Litigation Associate at McGuireWoods LLP from September 2016 to April 2023, and clerkships with Chief Judge Edward E. Carnes at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and Chief Judge Glen E. Conrad at the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia. Ashley holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law and a Master of Teaching in Secondary Education, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English, both from the University of Virginia. Prior to a legal career, Ashley was a high school English teacher at Hanover County Public Schools from October 2005 to June 2011.
