Matilda Folkenant has worked in a variety of roles in the fields of research and development. In 2021, they began working as a Research Engineer for ALTRIS. From 2020 to 2021, they were a R&D Scientist for Peafowl Solar Power AB, where they developed transparent solar cells for the next generation of self-powered IoT devices. From 2017 to 2020, they were a Development Engineer for Solibro Research AB, where they were responsible for developing a more environment-friendly cadmium-free buffer layer for CIGS-based solar cells. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Development Engineer for ABB Corporate Research, where they had a delegated responsibility for testing and running-in of research equipment. From 2009 to 2015, they were a PhD student in Inorganic Chemistry at Uppsala University, where they worked on two projects in parallel. In 2009, they were a Research Assistant at Institutionen för materialkemi, Uppsala University, where they were responsible for a project from planning to processing thin films to analysis and results. In 2008, they were a Master Thesis Project at Acreo AB, where they participated in a research project to develop a microchip for testing electrical stimuli and drug treatment of neurons.
Matilda Folkenant obtained their Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Uppsala University in 2009, after studying there from 2004.
