Hannelore Veit has extensive work experience in the field of journalism and media. Hannelore currently serves as the President of Alumni der Universität Wien – Vereinigung der AbsolventInnen since 2021. Prior to this, they worked at ORF for a long period of time, starting in 1993. At ORF, they initially served as the Anchor for Evening News from 1993 to 2013. Later on, they became a Correspondent and Bureau Chief from 2013 to 2021. Before joining ORF, Hannelore Veit worked as a Far East correspondent for ORF from 1991 to 1993. Hannelore also gained experience as a Japan correspondent for European Business Channel - EBC from 1990 to 1991.
Hannelore Veit pursued their education by attending the University of Vienna from 1975 to 1983. During this time, they completed their degree in Translationswissenschaften, earning a Magister degree. Following their studies in Vienna, Veit enrolled at the University of Notre Dame from 1979 to 1981 and successfully obtained their Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in American Studies.
