Alewijn Medendorp has a diverse work experience in various industries. In 1996, they began their professional journey as a trainee at ING Bank. In 1995, Medendorp started their own company, Basic Orange BV, which they owned until 2014. In 2013, they co-founded Ground3d, a venture they were involved with for six months. In 2013, Medendorp also founded Freedom of Demand, an initiative related to 3D printing. Alewijn served as the founder of this project until 2015. In 2014, Medendorp co-founded Scanologics BV and worked as a co-founder until present. In 2015, they co-founded Borges.xyz, a crowdsourced search engine for 3D models, where they are still involved. More recently, in 2018, Medendorp co-founded AM-Flow, a company focused on utilizing Industry 4.0 in 3D printing post-production. Overall, Medendorp's work experience demonstrates their entrepreneurial spirit and passion for innovation in the field of 3D printing.

Alewijn Medendorp started their education at Odulphus Lyceum in 1983 and completed it in 1989. Alewijn then attended South River High School from 1989 to 1990. Afterwards, they enrolled at the University of Amsterdam in 1990 and graduated in 1997 with a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Economics.
